Body painting FAQ
How long does it take to paint a body?
The length of time it takes depends on the comlexity of the project. Most full body paintings take about 3.5 - 4 hours. Pregnant belly paintings generally take 1 to 1.5 hours. Faces can take anywhere from 3 minutes to 30 minutes.
How does body painting fit in with different types of events you've done?
We have three different styles of painting for events:
- Models or performers are painted ahead of time and walk around the event entertaining guests
- Artists set up a booth or station at the event and paint or "tattoo" your guests
- Artists paint models "live" as performance art for your event
How do I remove my glitter tattoo or airbrush tattoo?
Airbrush tattoos or glitter tattoos will wear off naturally in 2-3 days. If you would like to remove it sooner, rubbing alcohol or baby oil will take it right off.
Do you choose your own models?
For most events we do choose the models. The right model can really bring the artwork to life, through how he or she moves and speaks and interacts with people. We almost always use professional performers - dancers or character actors - and we do our best to match the model's personality to the design idea.
Being body painted is such a powerful experience that even when the client selects the model, we have almost always gotten amazing results once the illusion brings their spirit to life.
Are your models always nude?
No. Different types of events have different standards of acceptability, and we are always respectful of any clients' wishes or requests. Most events use models who are "implied nude" (legally but minimally covered), and the illusion of body painting comes across best this way, but I can and have worked with models wearing the equivalent of swimsuits or shorts.
Do you travel for events outside your area?
Yes. We are located in the San Francisco area but our artists are available for travel all over the world.
I would love to be body painted. Do you ever do private sessions?
Yes! Most of our pregnant belly painting work is on expecting mothers who want a personal pregnancy portrait, and we have artists available for "costume" painting as well (i.e. getting painted for the Exotic Erotic Ball or a halloween party). Most body paintings are done in Fremont, CA in a comfortable, private environment. We have several wonderful photographers we work with who are excellent at photographing body art, and the portraits turn out wonderful. Contact us for individualized pricing.
