Usability

The web is a unique medium. It is a user-centered world, where the user is in charge of where to go, what to see, and what will succeed.

The art of user interface design lies in creating a site in which the user will intuitively want to go where the designer guides her. Every user thinks differently - this makes the challenge of intuitive navigation and site layout even more difficult.

A useable site must:

• Be intuitive to navigate to a wide variety of users
• Be compatible with Netscape or Internet Explorer, versions 4 and later
• Work on a PC or a Macintosh
• Scale well on varying monitor sizes
• Have a reasonable download time, considering its audience
• Be accessible to the visually impaired
• Offer what the user is looking for

So many web sites fail to achieve one or all of these factors, or end up sacrificing design and beauty for ease of use.

Fire Pixie has been working with and designing user interfaces since the mid 1990's. We've designed web interfaces, back-end tools, feedback forms, and entire web sites with usability foremost in our thoughts. We have also done extensive usability testing to back up our decisions. And we do not sacrifice clean design and beautiful graphics - our sites are pleasing to use because they are easy to use and beautiful to look at.
